Senior Parking Lot Party

The senior parking lot party was Dr. Guillaume’s idea of a new way to celebrate the beginning of senior year. This year’s class of 2016 was the first to start the tradition.

Before the party, Dr. Guillaume sent out a survey to the senior class that explained the details; each senior was invited to come eat grilled burgers, hotdogs, and brats, along with chips and drinks. In the survey, each senior had to fill out their name, their lunch period, and the blizzard of their choice. Dr. Guillaume said 200 seniors responded out of 350, but stated in the email that anyone was welcomed to come even if they did not fill out the survey. DSC_0968

During all the lunch periods on September 10th, 2015 the senior parking lot party began. Unfortunately, the weather was not on the seniors side for this event, but that didn’t stop them from eating and having a good time.

Mr. McDonald, Head Athletic Director at VHHS, worked the food line and said, “the rain didn’t dampen the mood, and it was great to see all the seniors after a long summer.” He also mentioned, “if the seniors enjoyed this experience, it should definitely be a new senior tradition,” and many seniors agreed.

Savannah Monsour (12) thought it was a really cool way to get the senior class together and added, “who cares if it rained, we still got delicious food.”DSC_0970

Maggie Collins (12), also said that this event made her day and this should definitely be a new senior tradition.

Despite the rain, Guillaume’s idea still attracted plenty of people. “It turned out wet but still great,” he said. VHHS has many senior traditions like the senior breakfast, the honors assembly, prom, graduation, and now the senior parking lot party.
