Make recycling important again

Make+recycling+important+again

Recycling does many things for our economy such as reducing energy consumption, pollution,  global warming, judicious and sustainable use of resources, and amount of waste going to landfills and, conserving natural resources.

An average American creates about 4.3 pounds of waste everyday. Think about that, 4.3 pounds everyday and times that by 365 days. That adds up to 1,569.5 pounds of waste every year that is composed by every person. There is approximately 324,118,787 million people in America, from the year 2016. This means that every year, our country as a whole produces about 499,101,001,413 pounds of waste every year.

Now, let’s enter our school, every class has a recycling bin and even the cafeteria has about four. Vernon Hills does a tremendous job with the recycling inside the school, but the problem is, what happened to the outside of our school?

The outdoor part of our school doesn’t have any bins. Everyone knows about the Friday night football games: where food is being sold in bags, and drinks are being sold in bottles. A question many would ask is, why don’t we have recycling bins outside for people to throw plastic, glass bottles, and paper items away. It is basic knowledge to have recycling bins, not only at the stadium, but also at any of the sporting fields.

People at games want to enjoy their snacks and drinks as they watch their kids, friends, and family play high school sports. So as they finish up their last sip, they’ll walk over to the trash bin where they are just dumping good recycling products into the trash bag, which later on will go into our landfill.

Trash bags at the games are always overflowing once the game hits the end. They’re mainly overflowing with an enormous amount of pop and water bottles. Which could be put back to use.

Not many people understand how much recycling affects our economy and environment. It is one of the most important things to do in order to keep this land looking clean. Everyday we are throwing away 483,520 pounds of waste.

Even if you aren’t an environmental freak, everybody knows the basic rules of recycling. The school thinks that if we have a recycling bin outside that there will be more waste in the recycling bin that isn’t able to be recycled.

But most people would recognize that there is a recycling bin and they would throw their bottles, plastics, and papers into the bin since they know it is the right thing to do.

Let’s get Vernon Hills to contribute more to saving the environment by proving that recycling bins are needed outside, since that is where a lot of recycling materials are sold. Later on the environment will thank us for the good deeds that we have done. Let’s keep up the good work Vernon Hills. Don’t waste our future and recycle!
